Hello! I'm Jim Lutomski, a Scottish artist living and working on the Hebridean island of Islay. Like Leonardo da Vinci and others before me, my interests extend beyond paint on paper or canvas. I enjoy sculpting with soapstone or polymer clay and I just love repairing bicycles! I'm also a Raleigh cycle dealer and have an ever-changing range of bikes in stock, with models to suit ages 8 months old to adult.
If you are on Islay, I hope you'll find time to call at my studio in the Columba Hall, Port Ellen. Whether you want to look at pictures, try a bike, commission a painting or just have a blether and a cup of tea, you'll be most welcome.
...to all those who supported me in the Islay Half Marathon. I was running to raise funds for Harvest Help, now renamed Self Help Africa and am delighted to report that the generosity of my sponsors has raised nearly £1,500.00. I finished in the respectable time of 1.46.07 - despite stopping along the way to chat to some visitors! I met an African who was intrigued by my "Self Help Africa" T-shirt and wanted to know all about the work of this excellent small charity.
I had a great time on the day and credit should go to the organisers, who worked so hard to make the event enjoyable for all participants, regardless of ability. My fellow runners were also a great bunch and I enjoyed meeting them all. I'm already thinking about next year, and the Isle of Coll Half Marathon looks appealing.....
